Let’s talk `teens and how is it already APRIL!

Hi! I know it has been forever, but I am back after what feels like a full sprint through the start of the year trying to navigate life with a 19-year-old, an 18-year-old and a 13-year-old! I’m a Wife and mom of 3 Boys!
What I would absolutely LOVE is some advice on , Teenagers!
Firstly, where exactly is the book called “What to Expect When Raising Teenagers”?
Because honestly, I feel like that manual skipped my house completely.
The moods alone are confusing enough.
And the confidence of knowing absolutely EVERYTHING as a teen , well, that still blows my mind.
Fashion though , WOW that’s a whole blog on its own!
Let’s talk about boys’ hair for a second.
The current trend is the “no-style style” mixed with a mullet situation. There’s this bushy front piece hanging over the middle of their foreheads (giving us the alpachae vibe) and then somehow business-at-the-back vibes happening too.
I mean, the kid has a lovely face but his hair is hiding the entire thing!
I honestly cannot wait for the day they look back at photos and think,
“Holy moly , what was I thinking?
It looks like someone sat on my forehead and scrunched my hair!”#TrueStory
And then… Jeans.
Are these painted on?!
Those things are tight. I do sometimes wonder if they take some fashion inspiration from the sports masters or boarder master’s at school because those jeans are also suspiciously snug!
Maybe I’m just an old-fashioned mom looking for that hunky Camel Man look again. But I suppose our parents probably felt the same way about us back in the day.
I mean , those teased-up fringes we had were just delightful, weren’t they?
Now let’s talk about sandals or “slides” as they are now called.
And yes they are worn with SOCKS.
Even when the sun is burning a hole through the earth, those socks are still firmly on those feet.
Parents of girls — tell me… what is your take on all of the above?
And where exactly do we fit into their lives now?
At this point I feel like my official job title is:
ATM , Chauffer , Uber and Chef , and MOM I need Data and let me tell you , all this data we are buying isnt used to phone their loving parents!!.
I won’t lie though I really do wish my children had grown up on the streets of the 80s (yes, the streets) and then partied in the early 90s.It would make them hardcore.
At least they’d know how to cross the school parking lot safely!
Besides this wild parenting journey that we are all swimming through ,can you believe it is already April?
My year has definitely has been busy on the social media side, and I am so blessed to work with some amazing brands and products that I get to try and share with you.
Also joining forces with Angela owner of VRSkillsLab , ( check out our social media workshops) . AND Leandra and Ang and I have started #CafeCouchConnects!
As always, I am super transparent and honest when it comes to what I promote. If something doesn’t work for me, or if I had a bad experience, I simply can’t give it a thumbs up.
I only work with brands and businesses that genuinely fit into my lifestyle and my family’s life.
I truly believe word of mouth matters, and that nobody enjoys false advertising , arriving somewhere that looks nothing like the photos or trying something that tastes absolutely horrible. How could I possibly recommend that?
This year I’m continuing to work with some incredible businesses as their Brand Ambassador, and I’ll definitely keep sharing my experiences with you.
And of course, you are always welcome to DM me with any questions about products, procedures, places, or destinations that I recommend.
The idea is to create a space where women can meet socially, experience what KZN has to offer, showcase their products or businesses, and simply take a break from being wife and mom for a little while.
A chance to just let your hair down.
Keep an eye on my Instagram, as we’ll eventually be creating a WhatsApp group as well.
So… Happy April!
And to all the parents out there navigating this wonderful, confusing, hilarious world of teenagers…
Good luck!
