Crustless Good Old South African Milk Tart
This recipe came out EXACTLY as it would have if I had used the conventional ingredients. I chose to make small individual ramekins but you can make use a medium sized ovenproof dish as well. Sprinkled with cinnamon, I found it delicious and reminiscent of my beloved grandmother♥
4 Large eggs
250ml Fresh Cream
1 1/4 Cup full cream milk
1/4 Cup Xylitol
1 Tsp vanilla Essence
Preheat oven to 180c
In a bowl, whisk the eggs, xylitol and vanilla essence together. Mix well
Add the milk and cream
Whisk all the ingredients together well.
Grease an ovenproof dish and place the dish with mixture poured into it into another bigger dish filled with water (Bain Marie). Bake for 30 minutes or until custard is firm to the touch and slightly golden. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle cinnamon over the top.
Allow to cool and serve just like that.
